Fun With Plagues and Robbers
I don't remember if The Hangman's Daughter was as chock full of anachronisms as this book is. Maybe it was (it probably was), but if so I don't remember them bothering me as much as they did in this book. I also don't remember Magdalena bothering me as much as she did this time. By the end of it I was wishing the series was called The Hangman. I'm also thinking Simon could be replaced with a happy-go-lucky canine companion and I wouldn't mind one bit. I definitely remember the first book being repetitious as all get-out, and this book follows suit, but in spite of all my nitpicks the hangman is still a badass and the plot was still fun to watch unravel.
Three stars, because there's some good cheesy fun here if you don't take it too seriously.
