Cedar Valley

Cedar Valley - Holly Throsby

On the one hand, I don’t want any artist to feel pigeonholed or duty-bound to keep producing the same style of art for the rest of ever. On the other hand, I hope Holly Throsby keeps writing quiet mysteries set in tiny towns in rural Australia. She does such a fantastic job of capturing the atmosphere of a small town, populating that small town with characters rather than caricatures, and giving those characters the sort of real-life everyday problems that can’t and won’t be solved in a single book. It’s realism, but not the grim-dark gritty kind, and I like it a lot.
