Mors was flung across the cabin and crashed hard into the bulkhead, knocking the wind from her.

And a few paragraphs later:

An impact rocked the shuttle, throwing Mors hard against the bulkhead, driving the breath from her lungs.

I have to give Kemp top marks for characterization, but all this repetition is making me twitchy.
