The Wrong Girl (Book 1 of the Freak House Trilogy) - C.J. Archer

I liked the first book in Archer's Spirit Medium series, but I'm having a little trouble getting into this one. I'm not warming up to Hannah and I don't know why. Something about her bothers me, and I can't put my finger on it. Yet.

The story isn't really grabbing me either. The writing is fairly solid. There are a few grammar errors that I find a little grating. Only a few, though. It's one of the better self-pubs I've read, at least on a technical level. I don't know what it is that's putting me off.

I'll keep reading for the time being. It's not doing much for me, but considering how much I enjoyed The Medium, I'm not ready to give up on it yet. Not even after the whole "mysterious man in a wheelchair brings special children to his large estate to teach them how to control their abilities" thing. Gee. Where have I heard that before? Oh yeah...
